Tim and Ruby can multi-task, have constant access to personalised information and instant digital gratification. They google byte-sized chunks of information and memorise it on their hard drive. It creates stress, mistakes, misunderstandings, misinformation and isolation.
When they indulge in cyber bullying and anti-social behaviour it creates havoc in the real world.
They begin to lose themselves in a sensory laden environment that's devoid of empathy and human contact. Ruby loses her moral compass on blogs, facebook, twitter and instant messaging. She is banished to "Cyberia". Tim is in self-imposed exile. He becomes desensitised and addicted to games. Living a virtual life, he withdraws from reality.
They suddenly realise they can't just press the "undo" button to retrieve their relationships, dignity and most of all their privacy.
In consultation with IT, Education and Mental Health experts, our creative team has woven together true stories of Gen Y/Z's internet experiences. It poses questions about how the digital age is affecting our brains, our humanity and our future. After 50 minutes in 'Cyberia' your students will have a chance to discuss the issues with the characters who have learnt to stop and think before they log on or press send.
